William Hayes, age 91 of Cedar Springs, MI formerly of California passed away peacefully holding his daughter Vicki’s hand on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 and danced his way to heaven. He came from California 4 ½ years ago to live with his daughter in Cedar Springs. He was born November 30, 1925 in Piggott, Arkansas the son of Guy and Virgie (Latta) Hayes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from Proctor & Gamble as a maintenance welder in Long Beach, CA in 1985. He and his wife, Bernice loved to travel, spending time in Hawaii, Lake Havasu, Laughlin and driving the East Coast. He loved music and dancing, with his feet always moving to a good beat. He was a very kind and gentle man and will forever be missed. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Bernice; his parents, two sisters, three brothers, granddaughter, Denise Hayes; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Hayes. Surviving are his son, Mike (Cathy) Hayes of California; daughters, Vicki (Duane) Haynes of Cedar Springs, Karen (Bill) Coots of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, James, John, Justin, Michelle, Colleen, Chad and Casey; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Maxine; brother-in-law, Ralph (Shirley) Blankenship of California; many nieces and nephews.
