William J. Dunlop, 85 of Grand Rapids has seen Our Creator and is at peace. Mr. Dunlop passed from this life on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born June 30, 1926 in Bay Shore, MI the son of William and Louise (Bedoes) Dunlop. He was most proud of serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was also co-author of the book, Hungry Hollow and received an award of merit from the Historical Society in 2004. He was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Ottawa Indians. He has walked on ahead of his daughter, Donna Colter (Steve Shirk); grandson, Jason Day; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Chapel. Rev. Fr. Richard J. Host officiating.
