Wesley “Wes” Martin Meeuwsen, of Fremont, Michigan, walked into the Light on Christmas Day. Wes was born on January 17, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Chemistry. Wes spent his working years as a chemistry teacher for Grant Public Schools, and later as a chemist for the Gerber Products Company. Wes will be remembered for the smile he had when he performed kind deeds for others. He was known for his selfless acts and his kindness to those around him. Wes was an active member of his communities in both Michigan and Arizona. For as long as he could, Wes volunteered with groups like Habitat for Humanity. He was part of clubs like the West Michigan Two-Trackers Four Wheel Drive Club and the Antique Tractor Club. Wes could often be found outside, gardening or working on a project in his barn. His family, friends, neighbors and many others will miss him. Wes is survived by his wife, Karen (Watson) Meeuwsen; children, Annette McBride (Jason), Jack Craven (Lindsay); sister, Dianne Manning; nieces, Kimberly Decker (Dan) and Vicki Manning (Tate); 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Amelia, Sophie, Rebecca and Isabelle; 2 great nieces, Madelyn and Katelyn; great nephew Haiden and many of his close friends that he made throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Florence; brother-in-law, Jerry Manning; great nephew, Nicholas Bos.
