The Lord took unto Himself Walter J. Dunbar Jr. age 83 of Grand Rapids, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home. He was born June 12, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Walter and Goldie (Lee) Dunbar Sr. He graduated from Creston High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Walt was a master upholster for many years at Carl Forslund then worked at General Motors for 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing and all the friends he did those activities with. His real passion was golfing and he started caddying at age 12. He made his first hole-in-one on October 6, 2008. Walt lived a good life, was happy and loved. He will be missed. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Diane (Crump); children, Scott (Leigh) Dunbar, Lisa Johnston, Nikki (Allen) Harig; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Norman Denton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Bryan and Tim Dunbar; siblings, Lee Dunbar, Bernice Denton, Patricia DeLooff. Relatives and friends may celebrate Walt's life on Wednesday, December 29 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service of praise and thanksgiving to God for the life of this honorable man will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating.
