Virgil Dan Singleton

July 18, 1942 — March 4, 2010

Virgil D. Singleton, 67 of Cedar Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 and is now in the loving arms of his Father in heaven. Virgil was born July 18, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Don and Dorothy (Elliott) Singleton. He was a spot welder at Steelcase retiring in 2001. He was a volunteer fireman for Algoma Township and was named Fireman of the Year for Kent-Ottawa Firefighters Association. He was a sportsman and had played softball until he was 65 years old. He had coached many teams of all ages for many years. He enjoyed bowling and had achieved his goal of bowling a 300 game. He truly enjoyed people. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a man of great faith. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice; children, Cherryl & Brian Rosenberger, Dan & Jill Singleton, Sandy & Jon Cole, Dawn & Mike Kulak III, Pete & Lisa Singleton; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Betty Kelley, Vivian Livermore, Robert & Julie Benkhardt, Don & Judy Singleton, Marion & Wayne Rodgers, Darlene & Ronald Swanson, Ivan & Sheila Singleton, Terri & Darwin Kelley; in-laws, Mel Rosenberger, Bob Rosenberger, Judy Rosenberger, Phyllis Rosenberger, Ellsworth Rosenberger, Nancy & Darl Snyder; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Benkhardt; granddaughter, Kylie Rosenberger; brothers-in-law, Don Parmeter and Herb Kelley. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, The funeral service will be held Monday 5:00 pm at The Springs Free Methodist Church, 135 N. Grant St., Cedar Springs. Pastors Barry Briggs and Wayne Cash officiating. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Stanwood. Memorial contributions may be made to The Springs Free Methodist Church Building Fund.
