Tracy L. Merlington

Tracy L. Merlington age 58 of Sand Lake, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026 at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1968 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Robert and Ruthann (Metcalf) Maxwell. Tracy cherished and cared for many cats and dogs throughout her life. She was a horror movie and true crime enthusiast. Tracy enjoyed capturing moments and took thousands of pictures of family and friends. She cherished the time she could spend with family and especially her grandchildren. Tracy had many health complications during her life but was strong willed, always keeping a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and always saw the good in people. Tracy had a loving and forgiving soul. She will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children, Brooke (Ryan) Merlington, Talyor (Chase) Merlington; grandchildren, Paxton, Arabella, Fisher; mother, Ruthann Maxwell; siblings, Ardith (Alan) Rouse, Jim (Kathy) Maxwell, Lori (Gene) Finch, Amy Helsley, Rex Maxwell; several nieces and nephews. Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Bob Maxwell; uncle, Vern Metcalf; brother-in-law, Darrell Helsley.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tracy’s name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Humane Society of West Michigan.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, July 31 at K.E. Pike Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Officiating Pastor Mike Wittmer.
