Timothy D. Brown

View Photo Tribute Timothy D. Brown, aged 23, was killed while performing his military duties in hostile territory in the province of Abdalluyah, Iraq. Tim's goal in life was to be a professional soldier. When he was a child he would dress up in fatigues and play war with his friends in the woods. In 2003 he joined the National guard and in June of this year he was sent to Iraq. He was a graduate of Cedar Springs high school. Tim enjoyed soccer, hunting and was an outgoing person always funny and enjoyable to be with. He was trustworthy and dependable. Tim was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Eldon Brown and Darwin L. Metzger. Surviving are his parents, Tim C. and Cindy (Metzger Tate) Brown; a sister, Stevie Brown; a nephew, Nathan Brown; grandparents, Helen Brown, John and Helen Tate all of Cedar Springs; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs with Lt. Col Herbert Hevaner-Chaplain Officiating. Military Honors and interment will follow at East Nelson Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in Tim's memory, to a college trust fund set-up for Nathan Brown, Tim's nephew, c/o Independent Bank, Cedar Springs have been suggested. Visitation will take place Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home. The family is being served by, Bliss-Witters Cedar Chapel, 13603 Northland Drive, N.E. Cedar Springs.
