Thomas James Rau age 56 of Cedar Springs, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home. Tom was born April 25, 1962 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Steven and Delores (Card) Rau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, garage sales, woodworking and playing the drums. He was very soft spoken, patient and kind and never missed his grandchildren’s sporting events or activities at school. He was a tinkerer and very handy and could fix anything. Surviving are his wife, Roxanne; children, Desirae (Matt) Patterson, Justine Anderson, Tom (Jamie) Rau; stepchildren, LeAnn (Mark) Janose, Jake (Stephanie) Jazwinski; grandchildren, Koltin, Brooke, Trent, Mason, Jude, Jaxin, Emma, Gracie, Krue, Miles; mother, Dee Rau; sister, Kathy (Randy) Kahrs; sister-in-law, Christy Rau; brothers-in-law, Dave (Nancy) McCracken, Paul McCracken. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Mark. A celebration of his life will be held at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, MCC Building, 4085 Lutheran Church Road, Kent City on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 1-4 pm. A time of remembrance will be held at 1:30 pm with a meal to follow. Pastor Mike Conklin officiating. Private interment will be held at Solon Township Cemetery.
