Tauno E. Williams 73 of Sand Lake, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home. Tauno was born February 20, 1939 in Jennings, MI the son of John and Thelma (Rosted) Williams. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1957 – 1960. He was an engineer (CMfgE) and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, past chairman of Region 6 and Chapter 38. He was a member of the T-Nuts Model T Club and the Grand A’s Model A Club. He sponsored and coached FIRST Robotics teams. He was a member of Rockford Springs Community Church where he served as an elder. Surviving are his wife Lois (Kos) whom he married on June 30, 1962; children, Shirley (Randall) Monte of Grand Rapids, Steve (Joann) Williams of St. Clair Shores, Adam (Michelle) Williams of Grand Rapids; step grandson, Louis Monte; brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Kos; sister-in-law, Ann (Brett) Hanke; nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Greg (Ingrid) VanderLende; and children, Trenton and Ericka. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassandra Williams; and sister, Myrna Williams Vaska. The family will greet friends Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Rockford Springs Community Church. Pastor Dave VanderMeer officiating. Private family interment will take place at East Nelson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SME Educational Foundation or Wedgwood Christian Services (Lighthouse Academy).
