Susan J. Athanon

Susan J. Athanon, 58 of Grand Rapids, passed away, Thursday, October 7, 2016 at St. Mary’s Mercy Health. Susan was born August 14, 1958 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of James and Eileen (Fuller) Sheldon. She graduated Cedar Springs High School in 1976 and worked as a Para-pro at Grandville Public Schools. She was a member of Faith United Church of God and a Kids Hope USA mentor. She was a very caring and helping person who enjoyed camping and bicycle riding and loved being a grandma. Surviving are her husband, Noe; children, Michelle (Dale) Wohlford, Tyler Athanon; grandchildren, Kaylyn and Little Dale; sister, Roxanne Simons; aunt, Patricia (Don) Reed, in-laws, Garner (Doris) Hall and their family; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will greet friends Monday from 5-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be Tuesday 11:00 am at Faith United Church of God, 3290 Walker Avenue, NW, Walker. Pastor Steve McDaniel officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs.
