Shirley M. Smith

Shirley M. Smith, 71 of Irons, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home. Shirley was born November 8, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Warren and Hattie Goorhouse. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, entertaining, and cooking and canning. Surviving are her husband, Joseph; 4 children, Debra (Chuck) Hendriksma, Ken (Kendra) Phillips, Dawn (Mark) Snoeyink, Robert Jablonski; 2 step children, Alan Smith, Linda Smith; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 brothers, Warren (Bert) Goorhouse Jr., Robert (Dorothy) Goorhouse; 1 sister, Nancy (Randy) Hankiewicz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Diane Marie Phillips. The family will receive friends Monday from 3:30 pm until time of service at 5:00 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
