Shirley M. Johnson

Shirley May Johnson age 90 of Trufant died Friday, December 8, 2023 at Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born June 27, 1933 in Pierson, MI the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Phillips) Paepke. Shirley graduated from Howard City High School in 1951. She raised her family in Wyoming and volunteered for 26 years at Wyoming Public Schools. She then moved to Trufant where she was involved in the Trufant Jubilee for over 20 years. Shirley was a life member of the Amvets #126 Auxiliary and the Greater Grand Rapids Women’s Bowling Association. Surviving are her children, Renee (Gary) Moore, Barron (Cheryl) Johnson, Vonda (Jeff) Hendges, Victoria Johnson; daughter-in-law, Penny Johnson; grandchildren, Rick (Amber), Sara (Jason), BJ, Tiffany (Keith), Curt (Carol), Brittany (Cory), Jami, Amy (Grant), Jason (Ashley), Justin (Cara), Gavin (Brittany), Zaria (Kaleb); 22 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Johnson; sons, Brian and Brad Johnson; sisters, Lois Wolf, Donna Pennell, Marion Jones, Alma McNees, Pat Esbough. The family will greet friends Sunday, December 17 from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating.
