Sharon K. Smith age 80 of Cedar Springs went to the open arms of the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was born August 12, 1945 in Niles, MI the daughter of Ralph and Dorothea Smallwood.

Sharon was born and raised in Niles, Michigan. She graduated from Niles High School in 1963. She worked for a few years at Simplicity, a clothing pattern company. She loved fashion and fast cars. She married her husband, Bill Smith, November 23, 1968, who also loved fast cars. They moved to Grand Rapids in 1973 and settled in Cedar Springs with their two kids, Chad and Krista in 1978. Sharon worked hard in her home until she went back to work in 1989 at Festida Foods in downtown Cedar Springs, retiring in 2012.

Sharon’s smile could light up a room. She was the definition of unconditional love. Her heart was pure and she loved her people (and dogs) fiercely. She touched the heart of everyone she knew with her kindness and patience. She loved being with her kids and could make something like raking leaves fun. She absolutely loved her grandkids and they loved her. She spent as much time as possible with them and loved every minute. All her nieces and nephews had a special place in her heart as well. Sharon and Bill spent many years racing…from snowmobiles to boats to drag racing cars. Drag racing was their favorite and later in life, they spent a lot of time at Mid-Michigan Motorplex where she would cheer on Bill as he drag raced their 1965 Chevy II Wagon. They met many wonderful friends there.

Surviving are her husband, William “Bill”; children, Chad (Carrie) Smith, Krista (Nick) Wolfe; grandchildren, Amber, Kaine, Sienna and Eli; brother, Ralph Smallwood; sister-in-law, Mary Smallwood; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob (Geri) Smallwood, Jack Smallwood; sister-in-law, Judy Smallwood.

A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 625 Kenmoor Ave. SE #115, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
