Samnieng Pongrattana

Samnieng Pongrattana age 88 of Sparta passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Mission Point Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 1, 1934 in Thailand the daughter of Singkom Jompaboun and Sowt Tommin and grew up there with her nine siblings. She moved to the United States in 1980 with her husband and children. Samnieng enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, listening to her Thai music, watching old shows like “The Three Stooges” and old Thai movies. She worked for the United Methodist Church and retired in 2000. She is survived by her children, Phouvong (Nith) Pongrattana, Sampason (Joy) Pongrattana, Nola (Steven) Olson, Sousack (Sokkheng) Pongrattana; grandchildren, Joshua (Kristin) Olson, Anoulack Pongrattana, Angelina Pongrattana, Elizabeth Pongrattana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pheuy in 2005; granddaughter, Kara Olson. The family will greet friends Wednesday, April 20 from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home Cedar Springs. Chaplain Tom Stone officiating.
