Roxanna “Roxie” Doane 68, of Kentwood, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 14, 2019 following a two year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Doane and brother, Melvin Doane. She is survived by her mother, Dixie Brown; sisters, Beverly “Cecilia” (Paul) Samiagio, Kim (John) Weber; nephews, John Smith, James Smith; uncles and aunts, Mary Holland, Dan and Jane Doane, Reatha Doane, Don Wirres; many cousins; and special friends and co-workers, Mary Lou Heyboer and Carolyn Moore. Roxanna served as a missionary with BCM International as a preschool teacher in Philadelphia, PA at the Grace Settlement House for 25 years and in Western Michigan as a Bible Club teacher for public school elementary children for 5 years. In the summer she ministered at Pine Ridge Bible Camp in Cedar Springs, MI for over 30 years, first as a counselor and later as the craft director. Her life verses were Proverbs 3:5,6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 21 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church 233 S. Main Street, Cedar Springs led by Kevin Grifhorst. The family will greet visitors from 10-11 am prior to the service.
