Ronald A. Tanis, 68, of Ensley Township, Sand Lake, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Metron of Lamont. Ronald was born September 6, 1939 in White Cloud, MI the son of Henry Sr. and Blanche (Horten) Tanis. He served his country in the Air Force for seven years during the Vietnam War. He had worked for 40 years at Dykema Excavating retiring in 2004. He was a guide at the Pioneer Hunting and Kennel Club of Rockford. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife Mary (Murphy); 2 sons Chuck (Peggy) of Coopersville and Vaughn Tanis of White Cloud; 1 stepdaughter, Catherine (Dennis) Johnson of Sand Lake; brother, Mike (Carol) Tanis of Grant; sister, Phyllis (Eddie) Ridderman of Fremont and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home in Cedar Springs, where services will be held Monday 10:00 am. Pastor Tom Zollman officiating. Interment North Ensley Cemetery, Ensley Township. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
