Ronald J. Lockman 74 of Newaygo, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Ron was born November 19, 1941 in Muskegon, MI the son of Russell and Helen (Nelson) Lockman. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He loved fishing and formed the West Michigan Walleye Club with his son, Joe in 1992. He was a dedicated worker at Auto Cast in Grandville retiring in 2009. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mary “Gerri”; children, John (Tina) Lockman, Joseph (Anne) Lockman, Christina (Tim) Evola, Theresa Darin; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joanne Crandall. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The funeral service will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 18669 W. M46, Howard City, with viewing beginning at 10:00 am. Pastor Steve Frentz officiating. Interment Aetna Township Cemetery, Morley. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
