Ronald Everett Atwood, age 86, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 24, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Born on August 2, 1939, in Ensley Center, Michigan, to Everett and Lillian Atwood, "Ronnie" was a man who preferred the open air to the confines of four walls. Though he began his career at the Sparta Foundry, he quickly realized his life’s work belonged outdoors. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a relentless work ethic, he founded Atwood Forest Products, a testament to his vision and grit.
Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and a healthy sense of stubborn pride—values he carefully instilled in his children and that will be carried forward for generations to come.
Ronnie is survived by the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Karen Atwood. His memory will be cherished by his children:
• Laurie (Tim) Kelbel
• Danny (Jennifer) Atwood
• Todd (Jolene) Atwood
• Ronda VeltKamp
He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a special place in his heart.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roger Atwood; his sister, Joann Westhoff; and his beloved daughter, Cindy Qualmann.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 28 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held Wednesday beginning at 10:00 am. Randy Atwood officiating. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Grant. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE, Suite 100, Grand Rapids, MI 49546
