Roger F. Unger Jr.

Roger Frederick Unger Jr. age 88 of Grand Rapids died February 13, 2026 at University of Michigan Health - West. He was born July 22, 1937 in Grand Rapids, the son of Warren and Evelyn Dekker. Roger owned his own business and worked as a carpenter. He was great with his hands and could build anything. Roger had a passion for golfing, watching football and an enduring love for his animals. He enjoyed spending time on his boat in his younger years when he lived on Pine Lake. He was an Arthur Murray instructor in his youth as well and had a love for dance. Roger loved to spend time with his friends and family. He will be missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his children, Rick (Renee) Nelson, Paloma (Chad) Tucker, Corey (Ashley) Unger, Patti (Don) Staten, Kathy Koppenhofer, Deb (Don) Cooper; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Judy, Jerry, Victor, and Rick.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
