Roger W. Cooper age 77 of Sand Lake, died Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Mission Point, Cedar Springs. He was born May 6, 1945 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Leo and Ella (Travis) Cooper. Roger attended Griswold School House at 18 Mile and Harvard before graduating from Cedar Springs High School in 1963. He worked as a bartender his whole career, as well as having his own catering business for a time. Roger was an avid bowler, with his skill in the sport taking him to tournaments across the United States. He also enjoyed stock car and NASCAR races, attending festivals and community gatherings, including Trunk or Treat at his church with all the kids. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Eagles organizations. He attended St. Margaret Catholic Church as a child. Roger was an active part of the The Springs Church in Cedar Springs for the last 16 years of his life. He is survived by his brothers, James and Charles Cooper as well as many nieces and nephews including “nephew” Justin Rule and his wife Amanda and longtime friend, Betty Kelley. He was also accepted as part of the Singleton family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, LaVern, Bernard (Ben), Erwin and Paul Cooper. A time to greet friends will be held Tuesday, April 25 from 5:00 pm until time of memorial service at 6:00 pm at The Springs Church, 135 N. Grant St., Cedar Springs. Pastor Dallas Burgeson officiating. Private interment in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Harvard. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
