Robert Louis Vanhouten

Robert “Bob” L. VanHouten, age 84 of Kent City, passed away Friday June 30, 2017. Bob was born December 20, 1932 in Coopersville, MI the son of Louis and Libby (Scott) VanHouten. Bob served in the United States Army and was known as a passionate farmer. Surviving are Bob’s children, Lisa (Mike) Skrabis, Judy (Paul) Olson, Doug (Tammy) VanHouten, Scott (Leslie) VanHouten; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Marie (Richard) Dragt; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; son, Greg VanHouten; and brother, Richard VanHouten. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8pm and Monday from 9:30am until time of service at 10:30am at Kent City Baptist, 400 W. Muskegon St., Kent City. Interment Idlewild Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The family expresses special thanks to the staff of Meadowlark Retirement Village and Great Lakes Hospice.
