Robert L. VandenBerg

Robert L. VandenBerg age 89 of Ensley Township, Howard City died Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Newaygo County Compassion Care Home. He was born October 23, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of John and Dorothy (Reitman) VandenBerg. He worked in HVAC for Northwest Kent Mechanical and Quality Air. In years past he was very involved in the Village of Sand Lake and on the Fire Department. He was active in Resurrection Lutheran Church, Sand Lake and sang in the choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Surviving are his children, Scott (Cheryl) Rogers, Lori Benjamin, Teri VandenBerg; grandchildren, Dan Wilson, Brian VandenBerg, Stacey Drozd, Rachel McDonald, Melissa Cooper, Crystal Richard, Jessica Rogers, Sydney VandenBerg; many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine (Socha); son, Brian VandenBerg; granddaughter, Katie Rose; brother, Don VandenBerg. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be held Friday 11:00 am at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 180 Northland Dr., Sand Lake. Pastor Phil Chaffee officiating. Interment North Ensley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church.
