Robert J. Russell

Robert J. Russell, 72 of Sparta, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his home. Mr. Russell was born March 11, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Harold and Evelyn (Stoepker) Russell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Surviving are two children, Rick (Chris) Russell of Sparta, Sharon Russell of Lake Wales, FL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Phillip Russell; 2 sisters, Carole Beebe and Diane (Ken) Olczak. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy in 1995; wife, Susan in 1997; and a son, William in 2006. A gathering to greet friends and share memories will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 2-4 pm at The Pot Belly Pig, 500 E. Division, Sparta. Interment will be held in the spring at East Nelson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses. Arrangements by Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
