Robert L. Morris

Robert Lynn Morris, age 87, peacefully passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 17, 2026. He was born August 20, 1939 in Grand Rapids, the son of the late Lynn and Kathleen (Freye) Morris.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen Morris; daughters, Debra (Tony) Isaac, Denise Bain; son, Dale Morris; grandsons, Aaron (Emily) Isaac, Daniel Isaac; granddaughter, Kylee Bain; sister, Sonja Hermes.

Robert graduated from Haslett High School, Grand Rapids Baptist College and Grand Rapids Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored at three churches in Michigan: Berlin Baptist, McBain Baptist, and Covey Hill Baptist. Robert also served as an interim pastor and pulpit supply. He also served as a chaplain at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids for 11 years.

He loved reading and collecting books for his extensive pastoral library. Robert enjoyed camping, canoeing, bike riding, golfing, and going out with friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s name to Kent City Baptist Church or West Michigan Hospice.

The family will greet friends Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Kent City Baptist Church, 400 W. Muskegon St., Kent City 49330 where the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Derek Max officiating. Interment Idlewild Cemetery.
