Robert L. Christian

Robert L. Christian 76 of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at St. Mary’s Health Care, Grand Rapids. Mr. Christian was born June 9, 1931 in Belding, MI the son of Leonard and Alice (Wacha) Christian. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and had worked at Michigan Wheel Corp. for 36 ½ years retiring in 1992. He and his wife owned and operated Christian Upholstery in Cedar Springs for 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. Surviving are his wife Marian; 4 children, David Christian & Gail Lancaster of Hastings, Diane & Craig Phipps of Cedar Springs, Gary & Vicky Christian of Jacksonville, FL, Steven & Sherry Christian of Harbor Beach, MI; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald & Mary Christian of Rockford, Ray & Lynn Christian of Grattan; 1 sister, Pat Teets of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wanda Modreske. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where services will be held Saturday 11:00 am. Deacon Paul Antor officiating. Interment Algoma Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
