Robert W. Bird

Robert W. Bird age 83 of Howard City, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Spectrum Health Butterworth. He was welcomed to his heavenly home by his parents, William and Gladys Bird; siblings, Betty Kohler, Lawrence Bird and Barbara Larson. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Pauline (Butler); children, Beth (Keith) Weaver, Pamela (Desmond) Pike, and Brenda Bird; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Curt) Boerema, Nancy Schalow, and Debbie Bird. After graduating from Howard City High School in 1956, he pursued the career of meat cutting. He began at Smitty’s Grocery and went on to work at Eberhard Meyer and Peet Packing. In 1973, Bob and Pauline established Bird Farm Meats, where they served the community for the last 48 years. His other interests included: cattle, farming, Case tractors, and sharing a good story. The family will greet friends Thursday, October 7 from 4-6 pm at the Grace Community Church, 9920 Reed Road, Howard City where the service will take place Friday 2:00 pm. Viewing will begin at 1:00 pm. Pastor Keith Weaver officiating. Interment Reynolds Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
