Rick L. Tompkins

Rick L. Tompkins, 49, of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Rick was born May 3, 1958 in Lansing, MI, the son of John and Ruth (BeVier) Tompkins. He was a service technician for Holton’s LP Gas. Rick was always ready to help others and worked very hard to provide for his family. He was a dedicated and loyal husband and father. He enjoyed dirt biking on the trails, fishing, learning to play the guitar, grilling at the campsite or cabin, watching TV, and being at home. Surviving are his wife, Arlene (Groover); 4 sons, Chet, Craig, Lee, David (Catherine); 2 grandchildren, Tristin and Breanna; mother, Ruth Nelson; 1 sister, Laurie (Tim) Wowianko; mother-in-law, Dorothy Groover; sister-in-law, Susan Groover; 2 nephews, 1 niece; “brothers”, Rex Boughton, Dave Thoms, and Lee Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tompkins; brothers-in-law, Warren Groover and David Groover; and father-in-law, Raymond Groover. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 12 Noon until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the Rockford United Methodist Church. Pastor Dick Riley officiating.
