Richard Leo Winzer (Dick) age 89 of Cedar Springs, MI was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday January 19, 2022. Richard was a faithful parishioner of St. John Paul Parish II where he served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard graduated from Hartland High School in 1950. During this time he developed his strong love of country by riding with the Black Horse Troop at the Culver Military Academy. This love of country led him to enlist in the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Coral Sea and the USS Leyte during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and continued to display his patriotism by serving as an advisor for the Young Marines organization. After his service in the Navy, Richard had a successful career as an Agricultural Consultant where he was highly respected by the Michigan farming community. He enjoyed volunteering his expertise by serving also as a judge for the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Richard was a devoted family man and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who never missed a family member’s event. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Margaret Winzer. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Ann; children, Richard, Mary, Patricia Fisher (Gary), Mark (Julie); 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marge Elliott and Fran Elliott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Lam Le at St. John Paul II Parish on Monday January 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Visitation in the chapel 1 hour before the mass.
