Richard "Rick" L. Stevens II

Richard “Rick” Lee Stevens, II age 62 of Memphis, TN passed away on September 19, 2026. He was born March 13, 1964 in Stanwood, MI, grew up in Howard City, MI and attended Tri-County High School. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Tech. and a M.S. in Engineering Tech. from the Univ. of Memphis. His career spanned over 35 years, as a chemical engineer in auto rubber manufacturing at the Goodyear Tire Plant in OH, and Associated Rubber Company in Huntington, TN & Tallapoosa, GA. Then, as Director of Quality Control at Memphis Contract Packaging in Sommerville, TN. Rick changed careers at 59, to teach high school Chemistry.

He had a passion for acting, singing in the church choir, performing VBS skits, and supporting his teen daughters’ numerous dance and musical theatre performances. He was a master at Trivia and a huge Sci-Fi fan, a Parrotthead and a gourmet chef with a variety of hobbies throughout the years including: ice hockey, bowling, painting, photography, golfing, comic collecting, British comedy, and most recently pickle ball.

Rick is survived by his sons, Bartley (Lauren) Stevens of Brooklyn, NY and Ian Stevens of Longview, WA from his first marriage; daughters, Margaret “Mattie” Stevens, Lilian Stevens, and their mother, Stacy E. Stevens of Memphis, TN; siblings, Kris (Amy) Stevens of Howard City, MI and Suzanne Stevens-Workman of Scottsdale, AZ; uncles, Mark (Linda) Stevens of Howard City, MI, Tom Montgomery of Grandville, MI, Harold (Tanyia) Flintoff Jr of Kokomo, IN., aunt, Jackie (Ron) Baker of Howard City, MI, and several other extended family and friends, including his close cousin, Brad (Melissa) Stevens of Howard City, MI. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Rich” Lee Stevens and Jan Rae (Montgomery) Stevens; grandparents, Harold and Aileen (Howland) Flintoff, and Connie and Delores (Eidsmoe) Stevens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. A visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 at 1 PM followed by a 2 PM memorial service and reception to follow. Interment by K.E. Pike Funeral Home to follow at the Reynolds Township Cemetery, in Howard City, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN or the Timothy C. Hauenstein Reynolds Township Library in Howard City, MI.
