Richard P. Dunham, 72 of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at his home. Mr. Dunham was born July 29, 1933 in Ida, MI the son of Myron and Ruby (England) Dunham. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Vietnam and Korea for 20 years retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He then went to work for the Kent County Road Commission for 21 years as a mechanic. Following his retirement he traveled the country with his wife in their motor home until 2004 when they settled in Cedar Springs. He was a member of the Cedar Springs American Legion Post 287 and the Rockford VFW Post 3946 where he had been a past commander. Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vera (Wilson); six children, Richard (Melissa) of Grand Rapids, Ruth Powell of Abilene, TX, Joseph (Jennifer) of Zeeland, Dan (Lori) of Sand Lake, Douglas (Kathy) of Freeport, Jim (Melany) of Sand Lake; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, twin Russell (Teresa) of Cascade, Steve of Haines City, FL; 2 sisters, Carol (Lou) Tokarz of Wappinger Falls, NY, Ann Dunham (Terry Hunneveld) of California; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Sand Lake. Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans.
