Richard A. Kidder

Richard A. Kidder, 94 of Cedar Springs, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at his home. Mr. Kidder was born February 8, 1919 in Maple Rapids, MI the son of Thaddeus and Elva Kidder. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 9th Armored Infantry. He was a retired Methodist minister and avid Michigan State fan. Surviving are his wife, Carol Lee, whom he married on January 31, 1974; children, Wilma Brown of Sparta, Clare (Constance) Kidder of Cedar Springs, Carol (James) McInnis of Houston, TX, Sharon (Todd) Freeland of Casnovia, Steven (Lisa) Kidder of Pierson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Carol) Kidder of Ashley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret in 1965; sister, Gladys Cartwright; and a son-in-law, George Brown. The family will greet friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be held Saturday 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Cedar Springs. Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating. Interment with military honors at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook St, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
