Richard F. Cone

Richard F. Cone age 95 of Sparta died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Oaks of Belmont. He was born July 15, 1927 in Stanwood, MI the son of Leslie and Claire (Castelein) Cone. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at McInerney Spring & Wire for 40 years. He liked auto mechanics and car repair. He built two houses, enjoyed gardening and raising strawberries. He had a huge sense of adventure and took his family on many vacations to the National Parks. Surviving are his children, Gary (Susan) Cone, Larry Cone (Vicki Smeby), Cindy (Gary) VanderMolen; grandchildren, Shawn (Shannon) Cone, Jason (Carolyn) Cone, Lindsey (Doug) Lathrop, Stacey (Chris) Marcus, Brent (Dana) Cone, Ryan (Kaitlyn) VanderMolen, Kelly (Daniel) Rhode, Kelsey (Adam) Sheets; 15 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Eva Cone in 2022; two brothers, Ernest and Elbert Cone. Special thanks to Kaila and the staff at Faith Hospice for all their loving care. The family will greet friends Tuesday, April 4, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Sparta United Methodist Church, 54 E. Division St., Sparta. Pastor Kevin Guetschow officiating.
