Richard H. Canfield age 86 of Cedar Springs, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 24, 2020. He was born August 6, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Dale and Mary (Galka) Canfield. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a lifelong avid golfer and developed his passion while on the Air Force golf team when stationed in Germany. He leaves behind some great golf buddies. Surviving are his beloved, Karen Hulbert; children, Mary Boyer, Peg (Kevin) Kelbel, Catherine Deschaine; David (Teresa) Canfield; grandchildren, Lucas and Joseph Boyer, Rebecca (Branden Funkhouser) Beer, Daniel (Sarah) Kelbel, Richard (Heather) Kelbel, Adam (Nicole Moselle) Deschaine, Justin (Shelby) Canfield, Nicolas Canfield; great grandchildren, Carson, Annabelle, Kenzie, Caiden, Carter, Elly and Jack. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Donna (Gless) Canfield; daughter, Karen Canfield; parents; siblings, David Canfield, James Canfield, Patricia Pryor, Marcia Barber. A family visitation was held at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. A private service will be held Thursday, May 28 at Findlay Cemetery, Ada. Pastor Ed Milam officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, 126 E. Cass St, Greenville or the American Legion Post 287, 91 1st Street, Cedar Springs. When restrictions due to COVID-19 are lifted a memorial celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion Post in Cedar Springs.
