View Photo Tribute Rex B. Rowland, 77 of Cedar Springs, died unexpectantly at his home on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Rex was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was born October 3, 1930 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Charles and Ethel (Tortlette) Rowland. He started in business in Cedar Springs in 1950 and had been a partner with his brother Jack for 20 years. He presently owned Rowland Warehouse Distributors in Cedar Springs and the Public Warehouse in Greenville. He was a former city council member and commissioner. He was a lifelong sportsman and conservationist and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed many adventures on Beaver Island at their summer cottage with family and friends. He was a supporter of the Cedar Springs Schools and athletic events and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife Barbara (Colby); 4 children, Douglas (Sherry) Rowland of Sheridan, Laurie Rowland of Trufant, Jeffrey Rowland of Anderson, IN, Jim Rowland and Jodi DeRuiter of Cedar Springs; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Annie) Harwood, Jr., Libby Rowland, Chad Rowland, Andrew Rowland; 1 great grandson, Bobby Harwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marcia, 1 brother, Jack; 1 sister, Donna. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. Pastor Brian Rafferty officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Cedar Springs.
