Ralph C. Elder

Ralph C. Elder, 65 of Cedar Springs, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Ralph was born July 12, 1945 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Cecil and Virginia (Hanna) Elder. He had worked for Fisher Body on Alpine Avenue retiring in 1979. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, family euchre tournaments, and was the Yahtzee King. Surviving are his wife, Debra; children, Ralph (Elizabeth) Elder Jr. of Pierson, Beth Elder (Alan) McGahan of Cedar Springs; stepson, Timothy Wert of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Anne Marie, Justin, Alex, Levi, Grace, Samantha, Douglas, Bianca, and Dominic; great grandchildren, Makayla and Kaleb; mother, Virginia Fisher of Sand Lake; brother, Jerry (Darlene) Elder; sister, Judy (Dan) Sturgeon; parents-in-law, David & Marillyn Wert and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Reed Elder in 2007 and a brother, Jack in 2010. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Thursday 11:00 am. Pastor Doug DiBell officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
