Patricia Jo Smith (April 1, 1942) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cousin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Rockford, Michigan, Patricia was the daughter of the late Barbara Page and George Hunting. She was also preceded in death by her brother George Hunting and sister Virginia Cox.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Fredrick A. Smith; her loving children Leanne (Robb) Kroll and Martin (Teresa) Hendricks; her cherished grandchildren Kattie (Robert) Westgate and Kenny (Tonya) Kroll; and her adored great-grandchildren Zoe, Kaisley, and Tucker. She is also survived by her dear sister Sandra (Nolan) Peters, several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.
For more than 25 years, Patricia worked at B&B Beauty Salon in Cedar Springs, Michigan, where she was best known as “Chatty Patty” and cherished the special connections she shared with her co-workers and clients. Her caring nature and bright spirit made her a joy to be around—both in and out of the salon.
Patricia had a deep love for the outdoors. She found joy in camping trips, cozy campfires, and mushrooming adventures in the woods. But above all, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. Whether sharing stories around a fire or gathering for family celebrations, Patricia’s warmth and laughter filled every moment.
Her legacy of love, strength, and love of simple things will continue to shine through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Patricia’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in her honor. Arrangements by K. E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
