Patricia A. Hibbard, age 83, of Cedar Springs, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Georgetown Manor. She was born to Joseph and Virginia (Rosa) Malinowski on April 17, 1940. After moving to Cedar Springs with her husband Robert in 1958, she briefly worked before taking time to raise seven children. Her next job was as a seamstress for the Red Flannel Factory, after which she transitioned to a bus driving position for the Cedar Springs Public Schools, retiring after 22 years of service. Her home was one of THE places to be for neighborhood kids, especially when it was baking time for her exceptionally small cookies, a design trick she leveraged to create the illusion of quantity in small hands. In later years, she enjoyed crocheting, feeding her birds, and introducing her grandchildren to the concept of many little cookies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert, in 2007. Surviving are her children, Jennie (Duane) MacAnaspie, Robert (Kimberly) Hibbard, Theresa Hibbard-Louden, Denise (Steve) Balberde, Kathy (Kurt) Schlanderer, Michele Fry (John Garcia), Michael Hibbard, and Donald Hibbard; grandchildren, Francesca, Jeremy, Sarah, Devin, Melinda, Melodie “Phoebe,” Nicole, Nathan, Chantel, Michael, Shelby; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Joseph (Kristen) Malinowski, Nancy Malinowski (Susan Rassmussen), Lawrence (Kelly Malinowski; and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 6, from 5-7 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 7, at 11 am at Our Lady of Consolation, Rockford. The interment will be at Courtland Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in place of flowers to Corewell Health Hospice or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
