Nora was born April 16, 1937 in Grant, MI the daughter of W. Howard and Edna (Barton) Cook. She is survived by her husband, William J., married almost 62 years, children William T. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale; brothers-in-law, Sidney Rader and William Clark. She was raised on a farm in Ensley Center, MI and graduated from Howard City High School. She taught school in a one room schoolhouse in Ensley Township before marrying William in 1959. They were active members in Ensley Baptist Church where she coached Bible Quiz teams. They raised their 4 children in Grant, MI where Nora was a leader in the High School band boosters, raising money for instruments and uniforms. Her love of the arts was evident in her painting and the countless musical concerts and recitals that she loved to attend. Bill and Nora moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1985 where they became active members in Calvary Bible Church. They remained there until Bill retired. Her last 30 years were her happiest. She spent her days enjoying watching her grandchildren grow up and praying for all those she loved so well. She renewed her love of painting and became prolific in beautiful watercolors, which gave her such joy to gift to her loved ones. She delighted in the academic and artistic accomplishments of her grandchildren. She was always full of encouragement and a prayer warrior—a legacy of her mother, Edna. All who knew her felt her warmth and acceptance. She knew that every person she met had dignity and was made in the image of God. That love had a way of transforming those people fortunate enough to spend time with her. She will be deeply missed.
