Nancy E. (Piper) McCarthy

Nancy E. (Piper) McCarthy age 84 of Howard City died Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Corwell Health Butterworth Hospital. She was born July 9, 1941, in Ionia, MI, the daughter of Smith and Eulah (Griswold) Rowley. Nancy worked at the Secretary of State Office for 26 years. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, car and tractor shows and mud runs. She spent time with her grandkids traveling and baking Christmas cookies. Surviving are children, Kelley Trombly, Cindy (Rusty) Weber, Jody (Marty) Owen, Jennifer McCarthy-Cunningham and Frank Ladner; 9 grandchildren, Amber (Nacho) Ruiz-Chavez, Mike (Beth) Brewer, Joshua (Jamie) Brewer, Heather (Ted) Denton, Colton (Sara) Newton, Megan Owen, Alek (Sam) Soules, Brody Soules, Irelyn Cunningham; 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William McCarthy; companion, Richard “Dick” Dennis; sisters, Rita and Keitha. The family will greet friends Sunday, November 30 from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Interment will take place on Monday at 11:00 am at Reynolds Township Cemetery, Howard City. Memorial contributions may be made to the McCarthy Scholarship through the Central Montcalm Foundation.
