Nadine F. Prawdzik

May 19, 1928 — May 13, 2020

Nadine Fae Prawdzik (Miller) passed away peacefully at her Green Acres Residence Wednesday, May 13, 2020. She was born in 1928 and would have been 92 on May 19th. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Cousin and friend to so many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick”; son, Jed; parents; brother; brothers and sisters-in-law and many relatives and friends. Nadine is survived by a son, Jan (Jolene); daughters, Robin (Rick) White, Criste (Pete) Sauve, Kyle (Brian) Laitila; daughter-in-law, Patricia Prawdzik; grandchildren, Toren (Heather) Prawdzik, Shaun (Todd) Hintz, Adam (Monica) Prawdzik, Kelly Prawdzik, Fisher Laitila, Tanner Laitila; step grandchildren, Scott and Michelle Sauve, Candice and Carrie of Oklahoma; brother, Boyce (Nona) Miller; dear friend and cousin, Joanne Ayotte; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Nadine loved people! Nadine grew up in Grand Rapids and attended South High School. In school her passion was journalism and art. She married Dick (Richard) on March 17, 1949 and began an adventure of a lifetime. She had a tremendous exciting career in early life at Herpolsheimers, working with former First Lady Betty Bloomer Ford, hosting a radio show at WLAV and WGRD as "Helene" of Herpolsheimers. She transitioned to early television with WOOD TV within the fashion industry. She raised a crazy group of kids and then returned to work in a variety of careers: Courtland Township Clerk, Administrative Assistant at Allied Photo Lab, Grand Rapids Public Schools Secretary, Corner Bar waitress and most importantly she was her husband Richard's right hand with Prawdzik Associates Insurance where she was a licensed agent. She also worked with the Rockford ABWA and Rockford Historical Society. While raising the family Nadine and Dick bought a cottage at Myers Lake in Rockford. After summering there for many years, they bought a second cottage and left the West Side of Grand Rapids and made Rockford home. Nadine was quite a collector of things especially frogs! She loved any frog she come across. Nadine and Dick enjoyed years of traveling together to Hilton Head Island, to their cabins in Baldwin and Luther and more. After Dick's passing Nadine spent her winters in Bradenton, Florida collecting her sea shells. Alzheimer’s Dementia impacted her life for many of the past years. She was always an articulate speaker and writer with an amazing "stage presence" and the disease took that away from her. From her days in the fashion world she was never without earrings, a pin, bracelets, her watch and a purse that matched. She dressed fashionably and her early career days she designed her own clothing and had them made for her. The family would like to thank The Green Acres Cedar Springs Care Team and the Kindred Hospice Caregivers that helped Nadine tremendously over the last year. We are so truly grateful for their caring and support. Nadine was a remarkable lady and will be missed so much.
