Mildred L. Marvin, 95 of Cedar Springs, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Mrs. Marvin was born August 1, 1910 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Kellen) Smith. She was united in marriage on Dec. 16, 1931 in Elkhart, IN to Douglas Edgar Marvin who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1964. Mrs. Marvin was a teacher at Cedar Springs Public Schools for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cedar Springs for many years and served as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed the cottage at Baptist Lake that she and her husband built, spending time with her family, crossword puzzles, board games, golf, writing poems and cooking. Surviving are one son, Donald (Linda) Marvin of Battle Creek; 6 grandsons; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillian Ballard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where the funeral service will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. Pastors Jim Howard and Stanley Mohr officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or Faith Hospice of Holland Home.
