Michael L. Reed

March 29, 1943 — August 29, 2023

Michael Lee Reed age 80 of Rockford MI was called to his Heavenly home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 38 years, Colleen and his children, Justin (Megan), Kevin (Tara) and Holly (Corey); grandchildren, Hunter, Keller, Nathan, Brendan, Carson, William, Callan and Ada. Mike is survived by his brother, Roger Reed (Donna); brother-in-law, Dennis Kirkpatrick and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gladys (Godfrey) Reed and his sister, Karen Kirkpatrick. Mike was born March 29, 1943 in Oklahoma City, OK and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Alma College pursuing a career in finance. He served our country as a Drill Instructor in the United States Army. When he was 42 years old he made a life changing decision and surrendered his life to Christ. When asked how he wanted to be remembered he said, “That I loved God, my wife, and my family.” He was active in his church where he worshipped faithfully singing in the church choir. Mike was a man of few words but his love for others, especially family, spoke loudly. There was rarely a sport Mike didn’t enjoy and his family fondly remembers downhill skiing, NASCAR and fishing on family vacations. The family would like to express how grateful and blessed they are for their church family and friends who have supported them through Mike’s health journey. A special thanks to the staff at St Mary’s Trinity Health who cared for him so compassionately in his last days. A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at West Cannon Baptist Church 5760 Cannonsburg Rd. NE, Belmont, MI 49306 on Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 am with Pastor Zach Horn officiating. Family will greet guests one hour prior. A reception will immediately follow the service. He will be interred after in a private ceremony. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Continental Baptist Missions 11650 Northland Dr. NE Rockford, MI 49341 or to West Cannon Baptist Church Care Fund. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
