Michael E. Dupey, age 76 of Cedar Springs, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family he treasured so deeply.
Born on July 31, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Michael was the cherished son of Julian “Duke” and Murle (Hirdes) Dupey. He grew up with a natural appreciation for life's simple pleasures, a trait that would define the wonderful man, husband, father, and grandfather he became.
For 51 beautiful years, Michael walked hand-in-hand through life with his devoted wife, Laura Ann (Keller) Dupey. Their bond was built on laughter, shared dreams, and a mutual love for adventure and partnership. Some of Michael’s happiest moments were those spent side-by-side with Laura, whether they were cooking together in the kitchen, sharing quiet evenings around a campfire during their favorite camping trips, or hunting with their many dogs.
For Michael, every recipe made and every campsite shared with Laura was a celebration of their lifelong love.
Michael was a man of remarkable talent and a gifted woodworker. He poured his heart, patience, and creativity into his craft, transforming raw wood into beautiful furniture. He took immense joy in crafting unique pieces for his family, leaving each of them with a tangible piece of his love and artistry to cherish in their homes for generations to come.
Michael was also a man of the great outdoors. He found true peace and contentment in the quiet beauty of nature. Whether he was tracking through the woods on a crisp autumn morning while hunting, or waiting patiently for a bite with a fishing pole in his hand in the sun or snow, or traveling through the Dakotas with his family and four-legged friends; the wilderness was his sanctuary.
Above all else, Michael’s greatest legacy is his family. His love for them was vast and unconditional. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on at all of their events. He loved nothing more than heading into the woods or out on the water to hunt and fish alongside his sons and son-in-law, and he always deeply enjoyed wind-down moments sharing a good glass of wine and conversation with his daughter and daughters-in-law. He filled their lives with wisdom, warmth, and unforgettable memories of outdoor adventures and cozy family gatherings.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Ann (Keller) Dupey; his loving children, Jalyn (Dupey) and Kenny Walker, Joshua Dupey and Tanya Gibbs Dupey, and Justin and Suzy Dupey; his adored grandchildren, Ella, Jacob, Daxton, Aurora, and Rivenna; his brothers, Mark Dupey, and Jeff Dupey and Kathleen McGovern; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Murle Dupey.
Michael lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting mark on the hearts of everyone who knew him. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on every time a campfire is lit, a line is cast, or a family gathers together surrounded by the beautiful things he built with his own two hands.
In lieu of the flowers the family welcomes memorial donation's to Pheasants Forever.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held Saturday, November 21 at Courtland Township Hall 7450 14 Mile Rd NE, Rockford, MI 49341 from 3-6 pm.
Arrangements are being handled by the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
