Merle R. Fifield

Merle R. Fifield, 86 of Grand Rapids, died Friday, March 14, 2008 at Metro Health Hospital. Mr. Fifield was born April 21, 1921 in Hesperia, MI the son of Lewis and Belle (McClennan) Fifield. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had been a truck driver for M.C. VanKampen Trucking. Surviving are 3 children, Lewis Fifield of San Diego, CA, Carole Giovingo of Chicago,IL, Edward (Cheri) Fifield of Danville, PA; 9 grandchildren, Carrie Chase, Christie Fifield, Jennifer Kintigh, Jessica Mednia, Erica Fifield, Vanessa Fifield, Sal Giovingo, and Tony Giovingo; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Elwin Fifield of Kentwood; several nieces and nephews including Kevin Fifield. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Milo, Harold, Lawrence, and George; and 1 sister, Ruby. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Kip Hasselbring officiating. Interment Crandall Cemetery, Ensley Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
