Melvin “Lynn” Gillespie age 85 of Cedar Springs died Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Corewell Greenville Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born April 16, 1941, in Cedar Springs, the son of Melvin and Edith (Spoelman) Gillespie. Lynn enjoyed working and had an excellent work ethic. His last job was for Dean’s Excavating, and he always said he would go back in a heartbeat, if only his body would have allowed him. So, he and Charlene did the next best thing and travelled the country in their 5th wheel. They also traveled to Europe and spent many winters in Florida. Lynn favorite food was beef, especially prime rib and filet mignon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Charlene; children, Connie (Kim) Smith, Jeff (Tina) Gillespie; granddaughters, Andrea (Bryan) Richard, Dana (Mike Frantz) Bailey; great grandchildren, Adelle, Isaac, Gracelyn, Elijah, Melody, Maybelline, Parrish; sister, Joan Weinrich; sister-in-law, Jean (Dick) Braford. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sandy, brother-in-law James West.
The family will hold private graveside services at a later date. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, MI.
