Maxine Currie, 85 of Sand Lake, died Saturday, November 3, 2007. Maxine was born February 11, 1922 in Muskegon Heights, MI the daughter of James and Mary (Denhof) Currie. She had been secretary and housekeeper at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Kentwood for Rev. John Breitensrein and Msgr. Charles Bolte. She was a member of St. Clara’s Catholic Church, Coral. Surviving are one sister, Dolores Vandak of Muskegon; three brothers, Donald (Idabelle) Currie of Spring Lake, Merle (Sandy) Currie of Texas, Robert Currie of California; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Currie of Chicago; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle Currie. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol, celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Parish Capital Campaign or St. Clara’s Altar Chairs.
