Maurice W. Streeter, 82 of Sparta, formerly of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Mr. Streeter was born December 21, 1925 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Ted and Bessie (Parker) Streeter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was best known for his produce stand on 17 Mile Road before selling his farm to the Cedar Springs Public Schools for the new high school. He enjoyed music and playing his harmonica, especially at the Cedar Springs Burger King and Rockford Ambulance. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores in 1994 and had lived at Harvest Way in Sparta for the last 7 years. Surviving are his children, Linda (Bob) Steele of Rockford, Beverly (Terry) Sheldon of Rockford, Douglas (Laurie) Streeter of Huntingtown, Maryland, Marcia (Tom Jr.) Hovey of Sand Lake; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Dorothy Blanchard of Cedar Springs; a close friend, Carolyn Lafferty of Rockford. The family will greet friends on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 4-6 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Private interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
