Maryellen Bishop

MaryEllen “Mer” Bishop age 70 of Sparta, MI died Sunday, December 11, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1952 in St. Clair, MI the daughter of Adrian and Clara Mae Bishop. She worked at Keeler Brass and started Bishop Adult Foster Care with her sister, Carol and worked doing adult foster care until 2020. Mer and Carol took many mission trips to Haiti and loved passing out pennies and Tootsie Rolls to the children. One of her fondest memories was of her brother taking her out for the evening when she was 18 and he gave her a record player and treated her like a queen. As a young girl she made a coffee cake every Saturday and she would trade a piece to a neighbor boy so she could use his bike and learn to ride. She was an incredible woman and will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her siblings, Sharon Bishop, Carol Bishop, Donna & Walt Austin, Paul & Sherry Bishop, John & Sandra Bishop, Mark & JoEllen Bishop, Morris & Sonja Bishop, Pete & Sherry Bishop, Steve Bishop, Anthony & Stacy Bishop, Ron Bishop; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Adrian “Jimmy” Bishop Jr., David Bishop, William “Billie” Bishop; sister-in-law, Cheryl Bishop; niece, Gentry Bishop Miller; nephew, Brent Bishop; great niece, Emmory Bishop. The family will greet friends 10:00 am Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Pilgrim Bible Church until the time of service at 11:00 am. Pastor James Durr and Brother David Ward, officiating.
