Marvin T. Powell, 82 of Cedar Springs, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at his home. Mr. Powell was born June 23, 1925 in Algoma Township, MI the son of Jacob and Crystal (Turner) Powell. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and was rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Cedar Springs. He was a life long Mason and member of the United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife Alice (Norton), 4 children, Christopher & Rose Powell of Cedar Springs, Toby Powell & John Putnam of Lansing, Casey & Marilyn Powell of Estes Park, CO, Sidney & Kip Stevens of Morley; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gabriel Powell of Rockford, Russell & Maxine Powell of Cedar Springs; 1 sister, Norma & Bud Garlick of Florida; 1 sister-in-law, Myrtle Powell of Cedar Springs; 1 brother-in-law, Roger & Carol Norton of Detour; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. The family will greet friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com. A memorial service will be held Saturday 11:00 am at Rockford United Methodist Church. Pastor Dick Riley and Rev. Lloyd Hansen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or Rockford United Methodist Church.
