Marvin H. Plite

Marvin H. Plite, 74 of Sparta, formerly of Sand Lake, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Marvin was born May 16, 1936 in Sand Lake, MI the son of Herbert and Marie (Novak) Plite. He was a graduate of Sand Lake High School and was a member of the Tri-County Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his children, Kimberly (Roy) Myers of Byron Center, Sheri (John) Kelly of Wayland, Thomas (Geralyn) Plite of Greenville, Michael (Marie) Plite of Grand Rapids, Patrick (Jodi) Plite of Sparta; 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Jane) Plite of Texas, Gene Plite of East Jordan; sisters, Patricia McNamara of Grand Rapids, Ruth Chase of Coopersville; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Sr. Airman Jason Thomas Plite. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home Cedar Springs, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Sand Lake. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
